JEWISH HERITAGE TRIP TO LITHUANIA
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A GROUP TRIP TO LITHUANIA IN JUNE, 2008 PLEASE CONTACT US - LitvakTrip@gmail.com
(Side trips to Belarus, Latvia, and NE Poland can be included) JUNE 24 THRU JULY 4, 2008

Trip BackgroundThis will be the 15th group trip I have organized and led to Lithuania. I am familiar with most of the country and have a good “feel” for which places are of most interest. Peggy Freedman, a previous trip participant and experienced travler in Lithuanian, will help organize and lead the group in Lithuania. Prior to the trip we will inform you of the do’s and don’ts, what to wear, what to take with, what to leave home, and many other little tips that help make the trip an enjoyable one. While this is a group trip, we try as much as possible to make it a personal trip. Peggy and I will go out of our way to take care of everyone’s personal needs.

I do not organize group trips to Lithuania for profit. My main purpose is to offer Jews an opportunity to go back to their roots, to encourage them to research their ancestors, and to enable them to see the rebirth of Judaism taking place in Lithuania. Since profit is not the main, all arrangements are made in a first class manner intended to make the trip enjoyable and meaningful for all. I hope you will be able to join us.

Geneological Odysseys

Geneology, the detective-like researching of family trees, attracts old and young alike. Even those who don't consider themselves very religious establish a closer personal bond and find a way of connecting to Judaism.

If you know more about Abraham, Issac, and Jacob than your own grandparents and great grandparents, and are curious to learn more, then this is a great place for you to begin to journey into your own rich heritage.

(International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies) cemetery listings.

You may or may not find the cemetery for your shtetl listed. When you go to your shtetl, become a Headstone Hunter and please write down a description of the Jewish cemetery there - the location, condition, approximate number of gravestones, and anything else of a descriptive nature you can think of. After the trip, please send me the information at and you will be rewarded as I will see that it gets added to the cemetery project listings!
